PyNIPS validation

PyNIPS is capable of reading the NIPS file. See the layout as output by the nipsext info command: TIRSA.7206 (NIPSEXT info).

There are 7 Periodic Sets defined in the data file. However, There are no records for Periodic Sets 1, 5, 6 and 7.

Unfortunately there seem to be no elements with data mode GeographicCoordinate.

Geographical coordinates seem to be encoded as UTM (element UTM in Periodic Set 2).

The techdoc has a note:

FILE ORGANIZATION: Indexed sequentially

This seems to mean Indexed Sequential Access Method (ISAM) (see also Data set (IBM)). What this exactly means is unclear, but we have a reference here.
